Course Overview
A 360° excavator is a tracked machine that can rotate fully on its base, making it ideal for sites with restricted movement or confined spaces. These powerful machines are widely used in construction and excavation work, but due to their weight and strength, they can pose serious risks if operated incorrectly.
This course provides delegates with the knowledge and hands-on skills required to safely operate 360° excavators, ensuring compliance with industry standards and health and safety legislation.
Course Content
The course ensures that operators can safely and efficiently operate a 360° excavator, both below and above 10 tonnes. Delegates will learn to carry out pre-start checks, operate the excavator safely and understand the responsibilities of working on-site.
Training combines theory and practical sessions, followed by assessments to verify competence and knowledge.
The course includes both theory and practical training covering:
- Current health and safety regulations
- Pre-start checks and machine controls
- Safe mounting and dismounting procedures
- Operating the machine on varied terrain, including slopes and uneven ground
- Identifying hazards such as underground services and overhead cables
- Excavations, trench work, grading and levelling
- Working with other plant equipment
- Changing and operating ancillary equipment and attachments
- Loading materials safely onto vehicles and hoppers
- Shutdown and maintenance procedures
