Ladder Association Combined User & Inspection Course aims

The Ladder Association combined user & inspection course is designed so that delegates can acquire user and inspector level certifications in the one course.

This course is split into 2 sections the first is user level competence. Delegates will learn how to:

  • Assess and determine when it is appropriate to use ladders and stepladders
  • Correctly locate and safely use ladders and stepladders.
  • Visually inspect ladders and stepladders for damage before and after use.

The second section is inspector level competence. Delegates will learn how to:

  • Assess and determine when it’s appropriate to inspect a ladder or stepladder
  • Record findings & recommend action to be taken if faults are found
  • Accurately record details of ladders & stepladders

They will have an understanding of:

  • What they need to know about the law and standards relating to ladders & stepladders and the storage & handling of ladders & stepladders.

These 2 sections will be split between morning and afternoon therefore you could leave with both user and inspector levels.

Those whose duty is to use, inspect and maintain ladders & stepladders in their workplace.

Course Entry Criteria

Delegates must be 18 years or above in age, physically and mentally fit to carry out the rigours of training. Delegates must be able to read and write in English.

Guidance & Information on Ladder/stepladder components, inspection, maintenance and storage
Record keeping and correct methods of disposal
Identify hazards and minimise using the STEP methodology
Theory Test
Practical Assessments

Certification

A Ladder Association certificate and Ladder Card will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical assessment sessions at the level they attend the course which has a five year validity period.
