Course Overview
The CITB Temporary Works Co-Ordinator Refresher is a one-day course designed to update learners on the essential knowledge and good practice needed to manage all forms of temporary works safely and effectively.
Developed in partnership with the Temporary Works Forum and the HSE, this course reinforces understanding of the Temporary Works Co-Ordinator (TWC) role as outlined in BS 5975:2019, helping delegates maintain competency and confidence in the position.
By combining prior experience with the knowledge gained on this refresher, delegates will strengthen their ability to plan, coordinate and control temporary works operations in line with industry standards.
Course Content
Over the day, delegates will refresh their understanding of:
The duties and responsibilities of a Temporary Works Co-Ordinator
The requirements of BS 5975:2019 and its application to the TWC role
Legislation and codes of practice relating to temporary works
Effective communication, coordination and risk management
The importance of the “4Cs”: Communication, Co-ordination, Co-operation and Competency
Who Should Attend?
- Anyone currently responsible for managing temporary works or acting as a Temporary Works Co-Ordinator should attend this refresher course.
- The training updates delegates on legislation, standards and risk management principles, helping ensure that temporary works are planned, managed and communicated safely across all project sizes.
- Completion of this course demonstrates continued professional competence and supports compliance with BS 5975:2019.

Successful delegates will receive a CITB Temporary Works Co-Ordinator Refresher certificate, valid for five years.
To maintain certification, delegates must retake the refresher before expiry. No grace period is provided.
