Course Overview
The CITB Temporary Works Supervisor course is a one-day training programme that provides the essential knowledge and understanding required to carry out the role of a Temporary Works Supervisor.
Delegates will develop a clear understanding of their duties and how their role fits within the wider temporary works process, supporting safe and compliant operations on site.
Course Content
During the course, delegates will learn to:
- Understand the role, purpose and key responsibilities of a Temporary Works Supervisor
- Recognise the roles and responsibilities of others involved in temporary works
- Apply the principles of BS 5975:2019 to the supervisor role
- Identify and manage risk effectively during temporary works activities
- Support the implementation of the contractor’s temporary works procedures

This course is ideal for anyone who is, or will be, responsible for supervising temporary works on a construction site.
By combining your site experience with the knowledge gained here, you’ll be able to provide effective support to the Temporary Works Co-Ordinator and ensure that all temporary works are managed in line with company procedures and industry standards.
Completion of this course demonstrates competency and understanding of the principles of safe temporary works supervision, in line with BS 5975:2019.
Extra Reading
Successful delegates will receive a CITB Temporary Works Supervisor certificate, valid for five years.
To remain qualified, delegates must retake the course before their certificate expires.
