Course Overview
The CCNSG Leading a Team Safely (LaTS) is a one day course aimed to provide a foundation in managing the health and safety requirements of small teams in the engineering construction industry.
The LaTS course focuses on fundamental leadership requirements such as planning, implementing and reviewing health and safety procedures, building upon knowledge gained from the national safety passport. Learners attending this course will be upskilled in the essentials for health and safety leadership to support the responsiblity of leading and supervising a team safely.
Any learner wishing to attend this course must hold a current and valid CCNSG Safety Passport. The LaTS course is a lifelong qualification with no set expiry, however the card will only remain valid alongside a valid CCNSG Safety Passport card.
Delegates need:
- An in-date and valid ECITB CCNSG National Safety Passport
- A thorough understanding of spoken and written English
- Valid photographic identification
Course Content
The course is based on the concept of ‘The Good Job’ and structured into four elements:
- The Team
- The Plan
- The Job
- Good Job
The workshop covers a number of key topics including:
- How to communicate successfully
- How to work safely with others
- Leading a team effectively
- How to achieve safe outcomes
- Techniques for self-management
- Awareness of health and safety at work, including your responsibilities for establishing a safe working environment
- An understanding of safe solutions to problems in the workplace
Who Should Attend?
Site Managers and Supervisors often set the culture in a workplace and they, more than anyone else on site, playing a significant role in ensuring that a team works safely. The course enables team leaders to positively influence the behaviour of other employees to establish safe working practices.
