Course Overview

This Rooftop Safety course provides delegates with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to safely access and work on rooftop areas. The training focuses on the correct use of personal fall protection systems, identifying suitable anchor points and applying safe working methods when working at height.


Delegates will gain practical experience using a variety of safety systems and equipment, along with a solid understanding of relevant legislation, risk assessment and emergency procedures.

  • • Legislation and safety standards for rooftop work

  • • Assessing risks related to rooftop access

  • • Managing common hazards

  • • Correct use of harnesses and lanyards

  • • Selecting appropriate anchor points including weighted anchors

  • • Using fixed fall arrest and work restraint systems

  • • Using work positioning lanyards

  • • Using additional fall prevention equipment

  • • Suspension intolerance (syncope) awareness

  • • Lifting and lowering systems

  • • Climbing and movement techniques

  • • Emergency considerations and rescue arrangements
