NPORS Safe Use of Step Ladders & Ladders
Course Overview
Fall from heights represents one of the most common causes of serious accidents that occur in the workplace, many of which involve the use of ladders. With almost all trades employing the use of a ladder at one point or another, it's imperative for operatives to understand how to use them safely.
This half day NPORS accredited Safe Use of Ladders & Stepladders N711 course will empower students, providing them with the knowledge and competence to minimise the risk of a heights related accident and properly maintain workplace equipment.
Course Content
- Have an understanding of the industry dangers and your responsibilities
- Relevant legislation such as Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 & Working at Heights Regulations 2005
- Accidents: Hazard perception, causes & prevention
- Ladder selection, internal pre-use and post-use inspection
- To be able to locate and identify major ladder components whilst also explaining the functions
- Identify appropriate PPE for ladder use
- Erect, dismantle and relocate a ladder safely and efficiently
- Safe ladder storage

This course is suitable for any operative, from trades to engineering, where ladders are used on a day to day basis. Looking at current legislation, roles, responsibilities, hazard perception, risk assessing, ladder inspection and modern safety methods this course will limit the liability or employers whilst, most importantly, safeguarding the health and safety of employees.
