Course Overview
Drivers and Transport Managers are responsible for ensuring that loads remain secure during transit and do not become a danger to themselves or other road users. Load security requires understanding and precision, as throwing a lashing over a load without knowing its strength or condition can lead to unsafe transport and serious risks.

Course Content
Using innovative training aids and practical hands-on experience, delegates will learn to:
Understand their responsibilities under Road Traffic and Health and Safety Law
Identify causes of load shift and the forces acting on loads during transit
Assess load type and vehicle suitability for transport
Select the most appropriate method of securing loads
Understand the difference between direct and frictional lashing methods
Calculate the correct number and strength of lashings needed to prevent load movement
Carry out pre use checks of chain and web lashings using inspection checklists
