Course Overview
If you are part of a team responsible for people’s nutrition and hydration, it’s important that you understand the terms that are being used, the nutritional requirements of the service users and the possible consequences of getting it wrong.
Course Content
Nutrition and hydration training online starts by defining the various terms used when talking about nutrition and hydration in care environments, so staff have a shared vocabulary before moving into more practical content. The course covers the basic elements of nutrition and eating a healthy balanced diet, giving staff a working understanding of what good nutrition actually looks like rather than vague general advice. The course identifies the reasons why vulnerable people might suffer with dehydration, recognising that dehydration risk in a care setting often has different causes to dehydration in the general population. Nutrition and hydration training online covers the tools you can use to identify people at risk of malnutrition and the steps you can take to deal with this condition once identified, rather than only recognising malnutrition once it has already become severe. Anyone working in a care team responsible for supporting service users with their nutrition and hydration needs.
