Course Overview
This course will look at supervising stress and mental health at work and show you how to create a good mental health culture in your workplace.
Course Content
The course starts by examining the negative effects of poor mental health on individuals, and also considers the many benefits of mental health interventions by employers, giving managers the business case as well as the human one. Supervising mental health at work training covers the six main areas that can lead to work-related stress, and how to recognise when individuals and teams are under stress, rather than waiting until someone reaches crisis point. Companies are legally bound to assess health risks from stress at work, and the course shows how to assess those risks as a practical management responsibility, rather than an optional extra. The course covers how to recruit and train Mental Health First Aiders within a workplace, giving supervisors a practical route to building internal support capacity, rather than relying solely on external services. The course covers how to create a good mental health culture within your workplace, and how to conduct a Mental Health Audit and produce a Mental Health Policy and Action Plan, connecting audit findings directly to a documented plan rather than leaving them as an assessment with no follow-through. Finally, the course covers a number of proven ways to promote a good mental health culture within your workplace on an ongoing basis, rather than as a one-off initiative.
